NEW POLL PART 2: TN Republicans Weigh in on Key Issues: Trump, Budget Priorities, and DOGE in Government

Republican voters in the Volunteer State strongly support the key priorities of the Trump agenda and its rapid implementation. Tennessee Republicans approve of Elon Musk's leadership of DOGE and strongly believe the state should adopt DOGE to address fraud, waste, and abuse.
TN Republicans Rank Top Priorities for Trump's 2025 Agenda
In a recent survey, we asked TN Republicans to rank the Trump administration's top priorities for 2025. A clear majority, 33.3%, identified reducing government spending and eliminating fraud as the most pressing issue. Close behind, 31.5% of respondents cited tackling inflation and the soaring cost of living as their primary concern. Meanwhile, 23.7% prioritized deporting criminal and illegal immigrants, and 9.1% called for stronger border control. Just 2.4% focused on ending Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies within the government.

TN Republicans Overwhelmingly Approve of Trump’s Key Policies
When asked to rate their approval of the Trump administration's handling of key issues, Respondents expressed overwhelming confidence. A striking 87.9% approve of Trump’s efforts to secure the border, with 79.2% strongly backing his approach. On immigration, 85.5% approve of his handling of deporting criminal and illegal immigrants, with 75.5% offering strong approval. A robust 82.5% approve of his administration’s efforts to reduce government spending and eliminate fraud, with 73.2% strongly supporting these actions. The same percentage, 82.5%, backs Trump’s stance on ending DEI policies in the government.

TN Republicans Divided on Lee's Road Funding Decision
We asked respondents about Governor Bill Lee’s decision to use debt to fund road projects. The results were mixed: 31% somewhat agree, 17.7% strongly agree, while 20.8% somewhat disagree, and 18.7% strongly disagree. Additionally, 11.8% were unsure.
More Funding for Infrastructure & Education
When asked which areas should have received more funding from the 2023-2024 state budget, TN Republicans pointed to infrastructure as the top priority, with 35% calling for more investment. Education followed at 22.8%, while 19.3% emphasized economic growth. Smaller percentages felt more should go to healthcare (8.3%), natural resources (2.8%), and public safety (11.7%)

Strong support for DOGE
TN Republicans overwhelmingly support the creation of DOGE within the state government, with 66.2% strongly agreeing and 15.7% somewhat agreeing. In contrast, 11% strongly disagree, 5.7% somewhat disagree, and 1.5% are unsure.

The Tennessee Statewide Primary Survey was conducted by IVR Live Landline and Online Mobile Interviews from March 06 - March 10 among a random sample of 600 likely republican primary election voters. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 4.0 percentage points. Results are weighted on a 2022 midterm Republican Primary model. Interviews were dispersed across the state based on Republican primary turnout numbers.
